演題："Agrarian Studies at the Cross Roads: Sociology and Social Anthropology in India"

演者：Professor Abhijit Dasgupta (Professor of Sociology at the University of Delhi, currently a Visiting Professor at the National Museum of Ethnology).

要旨：The main thrust of the presentation is to point out how new areas of interests in sociology and social anthropology have hijacked

agrarian studies in India. Today, in the globalizing world, India faces more challenges in the agrarian sector than ever before. One can cite examples like farmer's suicide, land acquisition, introduction of new GM crops, etc. The paper highlights some of these issues.
